Eliot graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2017 with an MChem in Chemistry. In his third year he undertook a one year placement in pharmaceutical analysis at RB, Hull, where he designed HPLC methods for benzocaine API initiatives compliant with US Pharmacopeia <1086>. In his final year he undertook a one year research project under Professor John Irvine, investigating oxygen doping of known fluoride ion conductors for potential application in safe fluorination of organic substrates. Eliot has returned to St Andrews under Professors Russell Morris and Sharon Ashbrook to pursue a PhD in microporous solids, where his work now focusses on combining expertise from both groups in the design and analysis of metal-organic-frameworks.
Outside of Chemistry Eliot enjoys running, cooking, music, and reading.
