Joe moved from his hometown in Lancashire to study Chemistry at the University of Liverpool in 2010, graduating with a first class MChem degree in July 2014. In January 2015 he moved to St. Andrews to study for a PhD in the exploitation of 17O NMR in microporous inorganic solids as a member of the Ashbrook Group.

Outside of chemistry, Joe enjoys kayaking, cycling, cooking and reading.
