Originally from the North of England, Martin spent four years completing his MChem at the University of St Andrews, and has now started postgraduate research jointly supervised by Dr Sharon Ashbrook and Professor Phil Lightfoot. He is working on niobate perovskites, studying the effect of doping and temperature-dependent phase transitions through a combination of NMR and XRD.

Outside of Chemistry, he is a swimming enthusiast, enjoys reading suspense thrillers and plays bingo in his spare time.
