Lab Location
Our lab is located on the North Haugh at St Andrews. This location is home to the departments of Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Maths, Computer Science, and some of Biology. The lab is on the top floor of the Centre for Biomolecular Sciences - the big green building you can see from the A91 when you drive into St Andrews from the west. The picture below shows the building with our lab window highlighted in green.

The picture below shows the view out of the lab window. On a clear day in winter, you can see, out across St Andrews Bay, the snow-covered tops of the Angus Glens and sometimes further to the Grampian mountains beyond.
Computational Chemistry in the DP Group
Our Research Group has two workstations and a 28 CPU cluster for computational chemistry. Chef is a dual-core workstation which is used interactively, mostly for molecular mechanics using Maestro and Macromodel, distributed by Schrodinger.
Kenny is an fourteen node (28 core) Pentium D-based cluster constructed using the OSCAR cluster toolkit. The quantum chemistry packages MOPAC, AMSOL, GAMESS and Gaussian03 are installed on this cluster and job submission is controlled by the Maui scheduler and the TORQUE queue system.
